Review by Galina

Mad Blues Sunday Morning Blues is an outstanding album that perfectly captures the essence of the blues. Joe Turner's soulful voice and Bill Moore's Lucky Seven's exceptional musicianship make this album a must-have for any blues lover.

The album features classic blues tracks such as "Cherry Red" and "Roll 'Em Pete," which showcase Turner's powerful vocals and the Lucky Seven's tight instrumentation. The album also includes lesser-known tracks like "Mad Blues" and "Boogie Woogie Baby," which are sure to become new favorites.

The production quality of Mad Blues Sunday Morning Blues is top-notch, with each instrument and vocal perfectly balanced. The album has a warm, vintage sound that perfectly complements the bluesy feel of the music.

Why does it list Johnny Winter as writer? Sorry, lazy. Don't feel like spending 5 minutes looking for myself

If that is not Rock and Roll then I don't know what is; and from 1946!

Intro- Johnny B Good.
That’s where Chuck first heard that riff. And a damn good one.
Just the same as The Beatles heard “ you come on flat top” in “Come To Together” when they heard Chuck’s “ You Can’t Catch Me”

One would presume that's "Roll 'em Pete" Johnson on the piano.

I listened to Joe Turner quite a lot at one time, and still have an old vinyl LP "Boss of the Blues". He's good, but I never developed a real liking for his voice, and from my recollection he never seemed to project much expression or emotion in his singing. Jimmy Rushing was the man for me although I canna think of anything he sang that could have been said to be a type of Rock 'n' Roll. Turner worked a lot with Pete Johnson, one of the big Boogie triumvirate, the other two being Meade Lux Lewis and Albert Ammons. There's quite a bit of their stuff on YTube (and of Jimmy Rushing but he tended to work with jazz combos - great though).
